Mask of China: Dalian Edition (March 2003 ~ June 2005)

From early-2003 to mid-2005 Derrick lived in Dalian, a city in China's north-east. These archived journal entries capture 2+ years of his life; from the initial explorations of his Chinese-Canadian roots, to learning Mandarin and eventually making the decision to move to Hong Kong.

Mask of China: Hong Kong Edition (2005 ~ Present)

After making the move from the rocky shores of north-eastern China, Derrick begins a new adventure exploring the free-trade frenzy of Hong Kong. In these entries Derrick compares and contrasts Hong Kong to his experiences in the Mainland. Though only a stones throw away from each other, and technically of the same nation - he quickly discovers they are a world apart.
