Strange Gardening Continues....

Live in China and you'll often see the Chinese do something that makes you (the foreigner) shake your head and go 'why the hell are they doing that?'.

Well, I've been doing that that every morning on my way to work for the past couple of months, since it started getting warmer.

It all started with the ritual of burning the grass and escalated to an all out random reforestation of the Neusoft campus.

Why trim the trees when they're barely grown? Isn't the point of growing trees so that they have beautiful branches and many leaves? Perhaps they want to grow nice straight wooden poles to chop down in the future?

I wouldn't call myself a gardener by any means. I would count my only gardening experience to be the operation of a gas lawnmower and trimming the hedges. But wouldn't planting trees so close together hurt the roots once the trees mature?

Of course, one advantage to planting so many trees is to combat soil erosion, but in the early stages, I guess it doesn't help much?

One measly day of rainfall and the grass gets flooded. Here workers are seen sucking the pools of water from the grass
